Casa Blanca Bird Spa – Act 014 – House Finches Share Food and Water with Mourning Doves

Peaceful scene showing cooperation in sharing food between Finches and Doves. Tray below feeder was added to catch seeds dropping from feeder. Bigger tray also gives doves comfortable landing and feeding space. Keeping seeds from dropping to ground reduces birds from feeding from ground and being threatenned by cats, such as my Princess, and several other cats who love to hunt around this area. More doves will be seen in future scenes.

We love finches – which is why we use a thistle bird feeder

We love finches – which is why we use a thistle bird feeder. The goldfinch is a real favorite. Each year we are blessed with the arrival of spring. They crowd our feeders of finch Thistle throughout the day. We came to see the plumage of the males in contrast to the bright yellow. All outside our window. Backyard birding brings many surprises and rigour. This is a story with a happy ending.

Reading one afternoon, I heard a thunk against a window. Of course, one of “our” backyard birds had flown in the window. The poor bird, sitting on his back, legs twitching and has not been able right itself. She was a woman goldfinch. I went to his aid and brought inside. She was in my chest and not tried to run, fly, or escape in any way. Her “poop” me though!

Together we sat for about an hour, she only looked into her eyes. Mrs was soon placed in a vacuum closed bluebird feeder. I left upright sitting. In a few minutes, was again on his back, legs twitching. It had been feared by human and brought me the bird inside again. With him, she did not try to move. He placed in a box with seeds and water, sometimes having to support its vertical position.

The next morning began the finch little walking awkwardly and stumble around his table. Now when it took place, a small peak take and pull skin from our thumb and finger pointing. How nice she was receiving feisty! The next day, did not have any problem in his painting, but when they run, she could still not move their wings. After some coddling, she was placed on the table. This continued for three days, with each day that minor improvements.

Day four brought attempts to fly. Our Lady goldfinch could fly a few feet and land on the carpet, so in his painting that was. The next afternoon, waiting only short flights, I was surprised when the Lady took flight and this time flew throughout the interior of the House! She finally let me gently catch him. She was almost ready.

The next afternoon, my son and I took her in his painting and to celebrate this small bird in hand, was released. He started something slash and they disapprove immediately. I opened my hand and instead of taking flight, she slowly rose in a finger and waiting. Satisfied, he took flight to a nearby myrtle, crepe, with us and began to sing. I like to think that it was a song of gratitude. Two male goldfinches arrived and landed near her. The three sang for a few seconds, and then, who had gone. We are left with warm feelings for the rescue of this beautiful backyard bird. We encourage you to participate in satisfying sport of birding – in your backyard and beyond a world of colour and looks of astonishment.
