As an ornithologist of long, some of my most exciting remarks came to me in my back yard. You can attract birds to your yard indoor planting trees and shrubs. Many shrubs provide food, especially shrubs that produce fruits of autumn or winter. Perennial plants as a genre attract goldfinch and Balsam bee (or monarda) attracts hummingbirds. Provide water in a birdbath or a small pond.
A bird feeder draws hungry birds in your yard. Black sunflower seeds are of great interest for birds, especially in the winter months. Sunflower seeds black are easy to crack and offer high fat contained in birds than in the colder months when less wild food is available. Cardinals, climbers, Carpodacus mexicanus, sparrows, Paridae and carpenters to the enjoy a feast of sunflower seeds black.
Thistle attracts ridgwayi, goldfinch and chickadees. Buy a thistle tube feeder or a sock of thistle. Both can be found in stores at a low price. However, the Thistle can be quite expensive.
Do not buy cheap, mixture of birdseed. While cheaper, much of the seed will go to waste. Mixed seed also draws birds nuisance starlings and nuisance animals such as squirrels.
Squirrels can eat an incredible amount of Canary in a short time. If you want to prevent squirrels hunger, buy a spring bird feeder. The weight of the squirrel closes the feeder and restricts the ability of plagues to get in the food while it remains open to the lightweight bird.
Place the water and food for birds in a protected location. An open space, while attracting birds, also attract hungry hawks who were given a feast of songbirds.
