Here are 6 goldfinches feeding from my feeders located outside of my lounge window. I have positioned the feeding station so that we get a great view! I love nothing more than watching the garden birds enjoying the food that I have out out for them. They seem to love sunflower hearts but are not so keen on wild bird seed lol. They must know that they are more expensive!!!!

Finches have a veracious appetite for Niger Seeds. I have three feeders and they eat about one kilo of seed a week.

Family of Finches captured with my Iphone eating 100% sunflower chips. Tried thistle seed and the others birds simply toss them all to the ground. If you want Gold Finches or Bluebirds, Sunflower chips are the way to go, and no waste! Watch it in HD! Iphone was held by our mini-blinds…shot through a window.

I love these little birds; they are so bright and colourful; to be truthful I find it real had to get great videos of them!! Sociable, often breeding in loose colonies, they have a delightful liquid twittering song and call. Their long fine beaks allow them to extract otherwise inaccessible seeds from thistles and teasels. Increasingly they are visiting birdtables and feeders. In winter many UK goldfinches migrate as far south as Spain. Where to see them Anywhere there are scattered bushes and trees, rough ground with thistles and other seeding plants. Likes orchards, parks, gardens, heathland and commons. Less common in upland areas and most numerous in southern England. When to see them All year round. What they eat Seeds and insects in summer.
